The sleeping compartments provide an area where the bears can partially retreat from human eyes, but contain no bedding material.
In these cages, The only ‘improvement’ appears to be that some of the cages open onto each other, so some bears are free to mix. However, this also leads to fighting and constant breeding in the confined spaces.
