Gina Moon, Founder of moonbears.org has been appointed as Ambassador for Korea for the World Animal Day celebration on the 4th of October, 2010.

An internationally celebrated event, World Animal Day connects millions of animal lovers, inspires positive change and unites the animal welfare movement throughout the world. Ambassadors are responsible for the public education of their country’s issues and have the task of leading the animal community in proactive movements. Bear Necessity Korea is proud to work alongside Gina in her efforts pertaining to bears.

What can you do to help?

We strongly urge animal welfare advocates and concerned citizens to push for the presence of the bear bile farming issue at the upcoming G20 summit in Seoul.

Former CNN correspondent to Korea, Jie-ae Sohn, has been appointed by the Korean Government as official spokesperson for the G20 meeting in Korea in this coming November 11 and 12.

We encourage everyone to contact Ms Sohn via twitter and express outrage about the Korean Governments policy on farmed bears. She has the ability to shed light on this issue to the world.

The G20 is a time when Korea wishes to demonstrate its economic prowess. It is lagging far behind the rest of the world on such basic issues as animal welfare. This is an opportunity that should not be missed.

The Korea Herald published a recent article on Ms Sohn’s appointment. Her twitter account is g20jieae.
